Farming Viability
Hi all. I have just come back from a 6 month break, and notice that things have changed ALOT. Before I left I pretty much farmed 80% of my playtime, and considered myself one of the better farmers out there.
The question I want to ask all the regular farmers out there, is what toons is viable for farming these days. Reading the patch notes, it seems that mass farming was pretty much removed as an option. This leads me to my other question about whether there is any point in keeping my 55 monk? I just did an old run I used to do. It usually netted me about 10k per 15 mins, but for that run I just got about 1k... Im going to take a guess and say this is due to the new 'loot scaling'?

Yes, that is loot scale. Money is hard to obtain now.

money is only alil harder to get now.
Short version check the first few pages of threads and get the latest information from there.
Yes the days of 30+k were the first to go, now its time for the 10k+ days to go. But money is still there.
Farm smarter not harder

Also, 55 is the hotter than a grandma's fried hotpockets. It's your best bet if you want to make money now.

If you've beaten the campaign(s), stick your 55 in hard mode and head out.

here's the code to my M/D build
was using it alot on the colossal scimitar run (zehlon's reach) on HM
never got a colossal and not really worth the trouble anymore
but you get loads of golds and good mods
Owom0EO7TCdpxKO1D27K5uaQeIAE5BA
key build that makes this build better than the original 55 we where running in the old days is mystic generation
so you may have this build aready but what the heck

You have to farm in hard mode now to do well solo. Otherwise, things are still find.
There are a zillion places I can farm profitably in Slivernewal (Ether Renewal plus Sliver Armor) builds; 55s can do most of them too, and some others I can't as well.

Pure farming is no longer viable, the only people still making money are the trader/farmers. Missing out on 10k worth of whites to get 5 gold drops is no good if the merchant only buys them for 300g.

True that, Now-a-days don't farm money, don't really farm items. Gold armours are a bonus, but if you want to make it rich like the old days try keeping anything good to sell on to players, otherwise try farming gold armours Titan Quest north kryta SV monk works nice for me

Like others have said:
Solo farming & cash = No point now
NM as a farm option is dead and its all hard mode now. You make money now by selling off the rares/mods/greens/tomes.
In terms of toons, 55 is pretty much the best option out there now. The change being the Mo/D with mystic regeneration and SOA/SH for damage reduction. Lots of farm spots in Hard Mode e.g. Zhelon reach/Fahranur/Bergen hot springs/Cursed lands etc. Mo/N for other spots like wajjun bazaar, pongmei valley etc. Mo/E for kinya province, nolani academy etc.
Then we have the E/A which is actually quite good for farming certain bosses which are located close to towns and have adequate mob sizes around them for powering sliver armor.....for elite tomes (quicker than 55 as you dont waste all that time in applying enchants). Then there is the stoneflesh aura/stone striker/mantra of earth build for farming plains of jarin and some other places.
Ranger/Ritualist or Ritualist/Ranger splinter barrage farming in Turai's procession, dead slaves quest and Domain of Anguish.
So on and so forth.

NM isn't entirelly dead for farming, it would be the easiest place to farm festival items that drop from monsters (ok, we don't have festivals often, but its something to do in NM), unless HM monsters drop them more regularly...
Another good plave to farm is skyward reach, 55 monk in HM. pretty much the same as normal mode, but more gold drops, and some nice ones too. If going as a Mo/D bring fleeting stability to counter knockdowns.

FFFing is now just as good as farming 3.750k in 40min max.
and you get LOTS of xp.
hint: (if you convert faction to amber and sell the amber to merchant you double your income SHHHHH.)
and it can't get nerfed and it isn't based on luck

I get plenty of golds, but there is close to zero demand for them. I am definitely getting a lot less $ than before. Oh well, gonna keep looking for that dream spot. . .

Ya i agree. I can barely get any good golds. I have some golds but i did a recent price check and some1 posted saying that my dead bows (that i farmed from GoK) were the only ones sellable for like 10k-20k
